Halloween!

Of all days I could have decided to start a new blog, it HAD to be Halloween. Perhaps one of my most favorite days of the year. There's something about the traditions and the season of Halloween that makes me fall more in love with the "holiday" every year. For instance, the scary movies on TV. Have you noticed that they now devote the entire month of October to scary films on some stations? I love it...AMC, SciFi, you have my heart. And me of all people to talk about loving scary movies! In all actuality, I'm a huge scaredy cat, but I love how on TV, they edit just enough of the gross and the ick to make them wildy entertaining to watch. Halloween H2O remains at the top of my cheesy horror movie favorites...so much so that while at Walmart the other day, rifling through the 5 dollar shelf, I found it and couldn't resist buying it. Chad and I have been following a strict set of Halloween traditions for many years and so marriage has further enabled Adam to see just how "into" it all I get. Our apartment is plastered with decor. That's been up since mid September mind you. And now I'm sad that is all must come down tomorrow.
Tonight was just as fun and I had expected it to be. I worked last night and Adam had taken me to work, so when he picked me up this morning, the anticipation only continued to grow. We hadn't gotten our pumpkins yet and after a wild goose chase around town, we finally were able to find two pumpkins worthy of our creations. Apparently there was a pumpkin shortage this year, and unaware, we waited to the last minute. After going to Walmart, 2 Krogers', Meijer, and Andersons, I was quickly growing cranky and my cough was flaring up. So Adam, loving sweet husband that he is, dropped me off at the apartment so I could get some sleep before he continued the journey solo, ultimately ending up at the pumpkin farm on Route 20. We decided on more challenging designs this year. I had an ET stencil and Adam had a Joker stencil. We started the slaughter at 5PM and amazingly, we actually finished both before trick-or-treaters started rounding. Between our pumpkins and Chad and Kayla's, we got lots of comments. Adam clearly won the competition this year with the Joker and I totally understand why. His pumpkin was fantastic. Photos to come.
So there you have it. My first entry as I sit here, waiting for the next scary movie to come on. Never dull around here. Hopefully this blog will be a great way to keep up with life as Heilmans...
